Plattekloof

Plattekloof in the Northern Suburbs sits on the slopes of the Tygerberg mountains and is famous for the spectacular views of Table Mountain that on has from this slightly elevated suburb that looks back over the southern suburbs towards the city centre. The Northern Suburbs were once considered separate municipalities from that of the main Cape Town region, now however as the Cape Town has expanded Northwards considerably and the area of Plattekloof grows exponentially the Northern Suburbs and Plattekloof are no longer considered separate from the main city region. Indeed with recent transport route development and public transport improvements it is becoming a common place for those working in the city to seek residence.

The properties in the area have been likened to those found in the exclusive Steenberg Estate with the endless golf courses and green belt walking areas combined with the magnificent mountain views. Being originally built on the outskirts of the city it is had the luxury of space and as such the houses are much larger and the value for money on Plattekloof property is much better than that which you will find in the Southern Suburbs or the city centre. Plattekloof offers a very attractive investment opportunity for experienced property developers and buyers as well as for first time buyers.

Mostly though property buyers are attracted to Plattekloof by the quality of life one experiences when living just that tiny bit further from the CBD than you are when you are living in the traditionally more popular areas. Plattekloof is connected to Cape Town via the N1 and the N7 as well as to Durbanville via the N1, the recently redeveloped Koeberg interchange has eased traffic congestion flowing into the city from the north and consequently boosted the appeal of property in the Northern suburbs. The MyCiti bus and its rapid transport route, which was recently rolled out to Milnerton is rumoured to be expanding once again, connecting the Northern Suburbs even more conveniently with the CBD.

The naming of Plattekloof is perhaps one of the quirkiest parts of it history, Plattekloof, meaning literally flat valley, was built on the slopes of the Tygerberg and as such provides some of the best views in Cape Town. While Panaroma, referring to a broad view, is built on the flatter part of the valley and offers very little in the way of views.

The Northern Suburbs are becoming an increasingly popular residential area and the Northern Suburbs stigma was shaken off many years ago, as central Cape Town starts to envelope the area.
